I’m Joe Gattone. I’m a real estate broker to some, friend of many (I hope), father of two, and husband to one.

I work with Compass out of Libertyville, Illinois, and I have been selling in and around this town for more than 13 years. I serve Libertyville, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire, Long Grove and the rest of Lake County and Chicago’s North Shore and Northwest suburbs. In 2025 I closed 29 transactions and ranked third among Libertyville agents by sales volume. Most of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients, which is the only ranking I actually care about.

This blog is my attempt to simplify the world of real estate for the public. As an agent in the industry I grew tired of reading articles that were either misinformed or cheesy sales pitches designed to take advantage of people at a vulnerable moment.
